The UCL Rover Team aims to design, build, and test a Mars Rover to compete at the University Rover Challenge in Utah during the summer of 2018. As the first year group UCL will put forward to this competition, we also want to encourage new students to get involved and carry on the project in future years.
Founded in 2017, the UCL Rover Team consists of 1st, 2nd, and 4th year Mechanical Engineering students. We are working tirelessly on this exciting project, with the aim of having a fully functioning rover to compete with the best at the University Rover Challenge 2018.
University Rover challenge
Launched in 2006, the URC is hosted by the Mars Society as a robotics competition to encourage university level students to design and build state-of-the-art next generation rovers. Held at the Mars Desert Research Station near Hanksville, Utah, the competition puts the rover in an environment with a geographical and chemical similarity to Mars.
